2019 IAYO Festival featuring St. Agnes’ orchestras and choir.
It was a first at the Irish Association of Youth Orchtestras festival that a choir featured along with an orchestra, and the 2nd Class choir from Scoil Úna Naofa did the school proud with lively performances of ‘There’s a Ghost in the Living Room’ by Susan Day, and Schubert’s ‘The Trout’. The Chamber orchestra conducted by Nicole Hudson and Soloist Kellie O’Neill perfomed Teleman’s concerto for viola, while the combined chamber orchestra with Scoil Úna Naofa orchestra performed ‘Aunt Rhodie’s Diet’ by Joseph Compello, narrated by Brodie Byrne and Beethoven’s Finale from the 5th Symphony arranged by Richard Meyer.
The concert featured orchestras from Galway, Julianstown Co Meath, Belvedere Dublin as well as the St Agnes’ orchestras. Each orchestra showed off their particular strength and the St. Agnes’ performance was certainly much appreciated by our own many followers and other audience members for it’s energy and polish. Congratulations to all performers on a terrific concert, and a big thank you to all who made this very special day out possible and very enjoyable.
The St. Agnes’ Chamber Orchestra were recipients of the IAYO Achievement Award for their trip to Madrid in 2018. Congratulations to all involved on well deserved recognition for a great event.
